you sure you've taken it to a garage and not a bakery or something by accident?

Are they bleeding the air out of the system? If not done right can cause fuel to stop getting through metering head. Also if you take the metering head off the air filter box, there is a spring that is held in the metering head that has various rubbers in it to filter the fuel properly. If this is broken or filled up with crap it will stop any fuel going from metering head to the injectors.

UPDATE!

Beryl is filthy! sat in the garage collecting much and greasy marks :(

right, after finally getting the correct fuel pump and it being fitted along with the new metering head, the car now has brilliant fuel pressure and is coming out of the metering head fine! only problem is now that the car still doesnt start! i find it highly unlikely that all 4 fuel lines are blocked, or that all of the ingjectors have failed or stopped working at the same time!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

what's going on? i want the car back today! :'(

Chin up... it won't be long now mate!  Progress has been made and you have fuel at the metering unit again so there can't be too much more to check and check again before it's running and you're enjoying some topless action

han, even if the fuel is getting to the metering head it don't mean the metering head is pushing fuel out to the injectors, this needs to be tested with taking off each injector and making sure fuel is getting to the injectors themselves and then putting injectors back on and doing a test to make sure injectors are working ok (see link below for test). If this is all working, you need to check your getting a spark from the spark plugs and that the timing is correct as I'd had in the past when I've taken off metering head I've had to reset the timing up again, thus the engine will just turn over and over but not fire up.

Here is a link to help you on testing the injectors... - this is a must test to do...
