Drying towel

ive been using something called a miracle chamais that i bought from max power live years ago, my problem is, is that ive been using it for 6 yrs, always kept it clean, but now its starting to fail in what its meant to do, but after constant use for 6 yrs, im not surprised, has done me well, but there is better microfibre towels on the market, im going to use this miracle chamais for my wheels and tyres from now on

air compressor to blow off the heavy stuff then megs microfibre does the job.

Why are they referred to as 'drying' towels?  What else would you use a towel for other than drying.  OK I can think of other obvious reasons, but why?

Buffing polish, buffing wax, cleaning glass etc etc
