Both the A1 and the Golf R look great. We did consider the A1 for my wife but they are a bit small in the back for carrying passengers/mountain bikes so it was ruled out, they are like little go karts though

Know what you meen I do fancy a look at the S1 when I comes out as the golfs too big really for what I need it for and ive always got the leon if I need more space. Maybe I should just save my money for a decent used R8 though.
I plan to drop from 7 to 4 cars as I think thats enough cars for one person...and meens I can sell my garage unit that currently houses 4 of then to fund it..

1: Daily driver          (Mk6 GTI)
2: Winter Daily         (The mk1 leon has done extremely well at this. Maybe get a used RAV4)
3: Classic                 (Mini or Mk1 GTI still to make the decision which is to go)
4: Sports car.           (used R8 or cayman)

Nearly finished restoring the xr2, so bought a 50% stake in this (me and my fords ) first job must swap the plate for an age related one.

So gti as my daily driver then the xr2 and the escort to swap round accordingly with my mate.

Just ordered up for the wife an Audi A1 Sportback 'Black Edition' S-Tronic which has the new cylinder on demand 1.4 litre engine. It should be quite a nippy little car and pretty fuel efficient at the same. Road fund licence is only £20 per annum

We went for Glacier White so it will look pretty much as pictured below.

The wifes happy which is the main thing ( so I'm in the good books for a change )

i have the 1.4 in my Polo Blue GT and its a cracking little engine, frugal when you need to be but capable of mixing it on the motorway, after 5k they also loosen up and sound happier at higher revs.

i'm off to the Frankfurt motorshow on Friday to look at this as a replacement for the Ed35

That pic of the R looks stunning!  Those wheels look so much better than the other 5 spoke design.

To think that we all thought the Sierra Cosworths spoiler was big when that first came out.

Yes, the R looks good and these wheels are

Probably 2 years till my next car but have already planted the 'R' seed in my partner's mind (plenty of time for him to get used to the idea!)

I'll go

You'll just have to redeem yourself by doing something nice for her - spa day perhaps?

This probably doesn't apply here, but I've never understood this type of female reasoning. Mate was getting it in the ear from his wife for spending money that they hadn't really good on a new car, but all was fine when he agreed to spend a similar amount on a new kitchen as well.

They then wonder why the country is up the swanny...
