The reason I would never buy a powerful rear wheel drive BMW is at 1 minute in on here  :undecided:  :-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iHqzufd_ZE

Even EVO mag got fed up with traction problems in their long term test 1M

Sideways on a track ... fine

but on a public road  ... an understeering Audi would suit me fine

I totally understand why some people don't like powerful RWD cars vs 4wd. I learnt to drive in a RWD car and can't help but feel in love with that tail happy wiggle when induced.

The 1M is a totally different car, here is a nice video of the M135i.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xwecTp91-o&feature=youtu.be

Thats a great video! Just watched all 19 minutes, although having driven a 1 series diesel and being a little underwhelmed you can't argue that the 135i is just epic!! Sounds amazing!!!

Will and I went for a good 1.5 hr unaccompanied blat in the new 118d Sport Auto and I have to say we were both impressed, the longer you drive them the more you like 'em

I also have to say that the seats are also very comfortable.

I'm starting to wonder if it was because i may have been holding back a little round the lanes cos i had the salesman in the back that i wasn't impressed with the 120d i drove? Although it definately felt quite gutless in a straight line! Even the missus commented that it felt sluggish from the passenger seat?! Perhaps there was something wrong with it?

There was quite a bad rattle from the drivers door too which i thought was odd in such a new BMW, i think this car was the dealer hack though so it'd probably been treated like cr@p from day 1. The interior is quite nice although there still isn't a lot of room inside compared to the Golf imo, your taller than me Craig so i doubt you'd get anybody in behind you? The salesman had his feet up his @rse behind me!
Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂

I saw a BMW 1 series M leave 30ft of rubber on the ground pulling away from traffic lights on a dry road. That put me right off them. :undecided:

You can get an Audi that does not understeer

Have you watched the videos of the new Audi Quattro Sports Differential = 4WD with torque vectoring?  I read a review that this system even works in the snow. I can't help thinking that a car with this technology would be the ultimate driving machine in ANY road condition.

Give me a car with oversteer everytime over a car with understeer.

That rs3 was under stealing something stupid and the amount of stealing angle he was using was boring as well. Sounds good though, sounds like its mapped.

To be fair if you have to add 4wd, a special diff and torque vectoring and all that to make them not understeer then they can't be exactly anything like neutral in the first place?

That's a rapid car, looked like that was an M3 GTS that he nailed too.

Jim

Indeed good video to illustrate the understeer point as you can hear the tyres screeching away on the bends - good driver I'd like to see him in that BMW
