the 2013 ST will be a 2 litre though so fuel economy will be on par with everything in its class.

as for losing money the 55 reg ST you linked is up for £7k - whats a 55 reg GTI worth? 8k tops? so taking into comparing both new car costs you can't say the ST has depreciated any worse than a more expensive golf.

Tbh Ford have upped their game recently, the interior plastics are almost on a par with their German counterparts.

I still think it will be a worthwhile buy and I shall certainly be off to my local Ford dealer for a test drive.

im not a VW (or any other marque) fanboy so my honest unbiased opinion i think new fords are as good if not better built than VW's

this is my first VAG car and I'm not blown away TBH. my mams new nissan juke has panel gaps and a paint finish a golf could only dream of.

for £22k that looks like a bargain and if it lasts as good as out 57 reg bog-standard, unloved, every day focus it will be a great car.

the only thing that would put me off buying it is are they bringing out an RS model? if so i would wait for that before buying i think

Seeing as i have recently bought the mk6 it would prob be a few years before i look at another car but to be fair that will be perfect to pick up a BMW 1M. For me there is nothing like a BMW drive, hence i believe that i will go baq the rear wheel drive!

Re the RS model apparently none are on the cards as the Focus only comes in five door and I read RS won't do a 5 door Focus.

RS normally comes out at the end of the run so even if they do it won't be for a very long time yet!

looks good

Aesthetically that ST isn't a patch on the the GTI ( inside and out ) imo.

Granted it may be a better peformance car than the current Mk6 but I still find the ST to chavy for my taste.
