Looks great Rebecca

What microfiber cloths are you using to buff off the wax?

I`m asking because last week I waxed my black Mk6, it looked great until the next day in the sunshine then it looked like I had a dull `haze` on the paint.

Too much product? Product not removed properly or do I need better microfibers? Or all three? lol.

I have washed it since and then QD`d it but it still looks the same. I feel I might have to start again   :undecided:

Thanks.

That dull haze will be combo of too much product and not buffed off fully.  Easily done.  Don’t know about your microfibres as don’t know what kind you’re using.

I use a mix of MF’s but my absolute favourites for buffing off wax are Swissvax buffing towels.  They cost a bomb but are better than anything else I’ve ever used. One is enough for the whole car, though I actually use two.  I fold each cloth into half then fold again into quarters, and buff off with a quarter, turning to a fresh side after a few sections, and then folding and refolding to reveal fresh other side.

My other all time fav plush buffing cloth is DoDo Juice Fantastic Fur. A fraction of the price is Swissvax.

I recently bought some Gyeon softwipes, but whilst they might be ok for sealants, found them to be lacking for buffing off wax.

I only use a thin layer of wax to avoid too much wax.  After buffing off all the wax, I go round the whole car again with a fresh plush microfibres and give a final buff to make sure all traces of wax are gone.

Thanks for the advice, I`ll invest in a couple of quality buffing cloths and just use them for exactly that.
The ones I have were freebies with a former purchase and might not be up to the job.

I may well have used to much product too  :embarrassed:

Booth11. Car looks great. Something about a wax that just gives that wet look. I have C1 coating but only use it on the wheels, brake calipers and roof. The rest of the body is waxed.  It works for me.

Not posted for bit in here as don't want to bore anyone of my none Golf detailing!

Here's a couple of pics from the weekend - had this for 4 or 5 days, looking after and detailing for a friend while he's away. Was covered in tar spots so removed those, hand polish and sealant. Needs full machine polish but he didn't want it doing at this stage.

Makes a nice change to the GTI, love the high up driving position and its pretty quick for diesel SUV

What are you all using to apply wax?

I think part of my problem is that  I`ve been using cheap foam applicators too
and even after buffing I can see on the paint where I`ve been.

Maybe I`ve pressed to hard with the foam applicator?

I`m a bit miffed with it really, the car looks great from a distance but close up is a different story.

Thanks.  Agree.  I’ve tried nano sealants, Gtechniq included on the bodywork and it just doesn’t do it for me on dark paint.

I use either one of these (used on Sun)

Or these

Both very good.

And they can both just be chucked in the washing machine too.  Mine have lasted years.
