Sunday, June 6th update...

Ooook, got bad news regarding the bonnet. I kind of started spraying it, but then didn't like the way it was coming out, so I changed my mind about spraying it completely...Also the paint wasn't enough, so can't be arsed to go to VW again. Also cost-wise it's just not worth it. Going to leave my bonnet as it is for now.

Now the good stuff :)

K&N panel filter arrived last week, got it fitted and it DEFINITELY makes a difference in terms of sound :D Gives the awesome roar, and I might be lying, but it feels that it pulls better as well

Also sprayed matt black my sunvisors and handles. The sunvisors came out a bit crappy, but I'm still happy with the results. They nicely break down the total whiteness of the headliner. I like

Ordered the BMW rear wiper and blade from Guy (thanks, mate), and fitted it yesterday. Smart and clean.

And finally, since the car has been washed and polished, here are some latest pics

The list:

K&N filter
BMW rear wiper
Black sunvisors and handles
Bonnet - cancelled (lol)

So I've done pretty much everything I wanted to do, and the only thing that comes to my mind is:

Black Color Concept A/B/C pillars...

Although, that's something which can wait, because I want to sort out a few mechanical bits:

1. Brake discs and pads
2. Steering rack
3. And the stupid rubbing/wobbling sound that I get from the front

See ya..

Little update here...

So everything's according to the plan from the last weekend. Sorting the brakes, steering rack and the mystery sound from the front.

I ordered Mintex pads and discs last week, but so far got only the pads:

The discs should be with me next week, and hopefully will take it to mate's garage to get everything fitted and fix the rest as well.

That's the mechanical bits...

For the mods, will probably fit black A/B/C color concept pillars, if I manage to get them for a decent price.

Got some crazy ideas about a full respray and 20v 1.8T engine conversion, but that's deep in my dreams :D

Erhmmm, useless update really...but I have to

Nothing has been done, because I ordered the wrong discs and pads (239mm, instead of 256mm), so I will have to get rid off these one and get the right setup.

Finally figured out what is the sound that I get from the front, and it's the wheel bearing on the driver's side. So will need to replace that soon, but not now.

Oh, the steering still needs sorting.

Managed to get hold of black A/B/C color concept pillars, paid and just waiting to arrive...Next week, I'm guessing.

Also Castrol 4L 15w/40 is coming as well, need to top up the oil.

P.S. England's playing crap.

Ok, finally June 27th, 2010 update:

Have fitted the black CC a/b/c pillars today. Quite easy job, here's a quick summary.

1. First you need to take off the B pillars. They simply pop out, if you nicely pull them from each side. However, to seperate them from the seat belts, you'll need to undo the 17mm bolts on the bottom, behind the front seat to remove the belt.

2. A pillars are the easiest. They are held by one screw (you'll see it, when you remove the B pillar), and are simply pull-out/push-in.

3. Aaaand the C pillars are probably the worst. You have to undo the rear seat belt bolts (the bottom ones) as well (a bit fiddly), and also 3 10mm nuts on each side, which are in the boot, underneath the plastic "thingies" that hold the parcel shelf. And also there's another screw behind the B pillar.

4. Oh, and don't forget about the short piece that connects the C pillars at the back. Make sure to align it carefully.

The end result: :)

I would prefer, if the headliner was black as well, but going to leave it, as that's too much hassle. Apart from that, I love it! Eerhmmm, if anyone needs white a/b/c pillars, let me know lol

Finally got a correct set of Mintex discs and pads, which is the 256mm setup. Not sure, if I'm going to fit them myself or take it to a garage. Depends what quote I get...We'll see.

I like the way the car is at the moment, and not sure what else to do.

Need to buy:
1. Lambda sensor (hopefully will fix my stupid mpg)
2. Front wheel bearings (annoying sound from the front)

Maybe few other mechanical bits, can't remember everything now...

Dreams:
1. Respray
2. 20v 1.8T conversion

Until next weekend...

Pretty boring weekend, since I had nothing to do. Was planning to fit the Mintex disc brakes and pads myself, but after trying to undo the caliper bolts, I gave up  So going to take it to a local garage, where I've been quoted £50. Not too bad, I guess...

Bought Redex yesterday, just to clean the engine, because it's been a while since it was serviced, so will be quite useful...Going to pour it all in next time I fill up.

I believe, July is going to be slow for me in terms of mods, because funds are needed for other stuff, but we'll see how it goes :)

July 11th update :)

My offside dipped HID light stopped working for some reason, so I spent the whole weekend trying to figure out what was the problem. Checked the wiring, replaced the bulb and only now realized that the fuse was gone, lol

Replaced that, and now it's working nicely.

Yeah, got the 30mm socket as well (want to tighten the wheel bearing nuts, before replacing the bearings), but didn't know that I would need an adapter for that, because it's bigger than my socket wrench

Stuff I need to do:

1. Get the Mintex brake discs and pads fitted (£50)
2. Replace lambda sensor (about £60)
3. Tighten the wheel bearing nuts

Thanks for following.
