Well I sold the Peugeot last summer whilst the sun was out and prices strong, I then had an Astra estate for short term transport / holidays.
Then in early Dec I collected this, a real nice 2 owner, low miles and really well spec'c (not keen on the 80's wood trim however  )

Agreed. And with the wood it's in blue-rinse spec, too.
Nice. For a pensioner. Wayne, are you a pensioner?
-

Yep, it is a 318CI (2.0 16v) 143bhp, needed to stay sensible with insurance, 325/330 would be double what this costs.
-
Oh yeah, buying a convertible BMW in which you do only a few miles a year is all about keeping things sensible.
Next time, ask the forum and we'll tell you to man the f*ck up and get a proper car.

Not found a replacement at the moment, have been looking but really unsure on what to get.

Replacement collected on Friday  I made the decision to trim the budget to help with future plans and this is so much car for the money, very pleased with it.

My mate just bought an A4 DTM edition, full Audi history, 72k on the clock
Two weeks after he bought it the engine has gone

Get some 20" spinners and hydraulics on that you'll be the biggest pimp in Somerset...dem biatches will come flocking yo!

Pretty solid cars tbh and can be had cheaply, good luck.

Are you 86? And do you like golf?

Yep solid as they get only badly worn clutches can cause changing gear issues, but apart from that its a car someone would have wanted, but couldn't afford 10 years ago

Makes a change from silver, grey or blue

Some bloke I know has one and has had an 02 plate for a couple years now and had zilch issues.
He's just too much of a pussy to kick the back out.

I think you'll find that's in Jewish Racing Gold. Many people would buy a car in that colour.
I just don't know any of them.

Not entirely comfortable with the colour description, 'jewish racing gold'.
-
Would you prefer 'hearing aid beige'?
JRG is a pretty accepted term and is rude but not antisemitic.

Only you could come up with something like this  i for one found this very humourous  i like your sense of sarcasm :afro: keep up the good work

Update time, have done a lot of thinking over the past few weeks and have made the decision to get something newer.
So have done the deal on a replacement car (Ford) that is a year old (ex demo) with 3400 miles on it, being ex demo it is fully spec'd and was £5000 off list price I did even go a little mad and get the figures for a new one but figured it made a little more sense to get the better spec that has already taken a hit in value.
Sadly they would not take the Lexus so it needs to be sold within the next 2 weeks
-
Hope its not got the 1.6TDCI engine in it
-

think its something smaller than that
-
Good choice on the car and the JRG!
http://youtu.be/Q6ibidu7Eno?t=40s
I've been thinking about the BEAMS engine Altezza estate for a while.
-
My guess is 1.0 focus
-
My guess is 1.0 focus
It is indeed a 1.0 ecoboost (120bhp) Titanium fully spec'd with loads more extras being ex demo, however it is not a Focus little point in my getting a Focus as Dad has one.
A Fiesta is too small with the cycling so I have gone for the option in between :lipsrsealed:
Collected it on Friday and have added another 100miles, very pleased with it, very nippy even with the small engine plus really good on fuel and only £30 a road tax.
-
Suddenly the Lexus seems like a good idea.
-
Well had it a week and very impressed with it
Still need to sell the Lexus however

Wayne has great taste in cars! He has had a citroen picasso!
-
Looks wise it might not be to everyone's taste but as a car they aint bad.
We smashed one across the black forest the other week and it did not die
-
trip to speck-savers might be due wayne
Went a few weeks ago and had to have new glasses
I wanted a newish car that would give me the chance to forgot about needing to change again for 2 or 3 years, this is not everyone's choice but I am happy with it and that is what matters.
-
hahaha 2-3 years, yeah right…. :lipsrsealed:

they must have done them wrong picking a car in the shade
-
they must have done them wrong picking a car in the shade
I think this is the best colour , in the sun it really changes shade, the bigger problem is that in real terms is you can have white, red, silver, blue, black or this which is called burnished glow.
They are so in demand that if I ordered a new one they were saying around 4 months delivery with the spec and colour of my choice.
They did have a silver one available but it was slightly less spec, double the mileage and was only the 100bhp plus I have had enough of silver cars.

think the 4 month waiting list is salesman talk  can be had in 6 weeks new prob less buying secondhand

Nope that was 3 different dealers, you can get within 8 weeks with a basic spec Zetec in white or blue but to get options or a Titanium it is months away.
The Zetec is really basic even the usb slot is an option, secondhand wise the 120bhp is very hard to find even more so with nearly all the options or diesels are available but I am not a fan of diesels.

They have come on a long way, the Ecoboost engine is great and for a 1.0 it never feels underpowered
-
to be fair it was a long time agao now, glad your happy with your new buy :)

i had that with a v6 golf not long ago

Wayne, you've bought a car the colour of sh*t.
If it was something sporty that could carry it off, or something prestige, then fair enough, but it's a people carrier, designed for the school run.
When did you last do a school run?

The point that you and many others missed is that it is called buying a car to suit your needs and has nothing to do with family or the school run.
I do a lot of cycling so I need something that the bike will go in easy enough, this is spot on, not much bigger than a Fiesta plus loads of room.
Also it is really good on fuel and is cheap to run plus even with the recent holiday it still has less than 5000miles on it.
4 adults and a boot full of luggage yet 44mpg all day long and even with it being only a 1.0T not once did it struggle or felt underpowered.
I am more than pleased with it and knew that it would be hated on here but I cannot change that.
-
Well update time, had the B Max over 6mths now, done 2400 miles and am very impressed, does everything I need and is great on fuel.
Will be 2 years old in April and has just clocked 6000miles, will also need its second service in April which should be 24000miles but it is due yearly no matter on the miles.
Might be a Ford but as I said I am really pleased with it and with the bikes it is great, so much room plus the door layout is a real plus point.
-
That's all that matters! I've had my Audi 6mths now, done 12k! You've some catching up :-)
-
Update time.
With plans slotting into place at last and with a house purchase on the horizon, I needed to trim costs a little, the original dealer was not very helpful so shopped around and another Ford dealer was willing to help me switch back to a cheaper car.
The figures made sense and at the end of the day I still have an 11 plate Fiesta with full spec being the Titanium model, nice miles at only 30k from new, the B max was shedding value like water so it made sense to sell now.
Will post a better picture over the weekend

Well not posted for a while, been really busy with having now purchased my first house, I am now all in and sorted.
I sold the Fiesta back in May to help trim costs even further and have not had a car since, however I collect my brand new car on Saturday.
Never had a brand new car so this will be a experience for me, did think of another s/h car but with my luck figured it made more sense to go for the new option.
-
What are you getting?

What are you getting?
All I am willing to say at this stage is that it is a sensible choice but it is well respected by the motoring press as a great all round choice.
James May also likes them and owns one
