Image hosting site finally back up. So, admittedly not great pictures, I blame the equipment
7mm socket to undo clip on the air intake pipe at the turbo elbow, mine was in an annoyingly inaccessible position so when I refitted I turned it around should I need to remove again. Here it is disconnected:
Remove this pipe, it's very tight and needs a bit of persuasion:
Then the airbox can be removed, takes a fair bit of tugging to overcome the three fitting points but once loose can be lifted out by the rear first. You can see the three points below, to the left of the red cable left side of image, just below the red cable to the right and at the bottom of the picture left of centre:
Next, in the above picture, you need to unclip the left cable end from the shifter and lift the connector off (make sure the car is in neutral all the time, the shifter will move easily up and down into the gearbox). I couldn't get a picture (see last picture and note) but on the other part of the shifter mechanism there is a small white plastic clip to remove then slide the part out of the way. Then remove the 13mm nut and lift off the shifter, it'll be a very tight fit, use the up and down movement of the mechanism to jolt it off, took a good few goes!
Note the different position of the metal post. Some high temperature grease needs to go in the groove of the shifter (where the up/down mechanism fits) then refit noting that a missing tooth means it only fits in one position. Torque to 25nm (you may wish to satisfy yourself that this is correct!).
Remove the end of the cable mechanism by pulling the knurled end forward compressing the spring and twisting to lock into place (see above picture). Reverse fit the replacement and reattach to the shifter mechanism. Refit the right hand (up/down) shifter and refit the white clip.
Note the the white plastic clip holding the up/down mechanism in place in the above picture, just above the 13mm nut.
Finally, get in the car and make sure you can get all the gears then refit the airbox and enjoy!
