yea keep it in 3rd around 3500 rpm and floor it gets up to 80 quite quick 90 in 4th and sits nicely at 100. Good fun to drive. Better than mk3.

Mk1 and 2's are where the funs to be had though. Really would love a minted mk1.

Although I like the look of the new ones as well. 210bhp on the new ones

My mk3 is loads better more fun to drive than the mk4 but that might be because Ive done stuff to it. I found the mk4 to be a nicer place to be on a daily basis though.

I had a mk3 a few years back. It was in great condition inside and out. But had no end of problems. Gearbox went, CV boot, anti roll bar bushes, the list was endless. So got rid and got a BMW318ti which was a great car.

But they say once you get the GTI bug your stuck with it.

Its true mate, I bought a mk2 for £225 a few years back and it was a great car, better than some much newer cars that Ive had, never looked back since then.

Although, my favourites are the mk3's that I have owned. :lipsrsealed:

I have got to change the steering rack on my mk4 its making a clunking sound. Mechanic says that it will never get any worse but want it to be bang one. Apparently it is a common fault usually if the steering wheel is turned full lock while stationary???!!!!

not a big job 100 quid all in.

We had it up the ramp you can feel the movement in the rack when turning.

I am going to take some pics later today. I will post them this afternoon.
