Title: Just test drove the 1.9SE 105bhp TDI
Post by: Cupra Turbo on 27 March 2004, 16:20
For a "Boat, Ferry, Lorry, Truck" or whatever else the "old skool'ers" called em ... its pretty nippy. 105bhp isnt alot, but it surely surprised Mr "look-at-my-exhaust" Nova boy.

It is very very smooth and refined, has a first rate gearbox that has little movement, the car is very spacious. The diesel engine CANNOT be heard "inside" the car, and is relatively quiet outside... It has the usual equipment found on modern cars... ABS, Air Con, EBD, Alloys ... recommended for "commuters" ... gets around 60mpg driving at 55mph... ... tho I do know the 130 PD150 can get 55mpg doing 80mph on the motorway ... so I think 60mpg is cos its only got 1500miles on the clock... and I didnt drive it far enough.

Rating?

8/10

Needs?

Faster acceleration (try the 140bhp GT)
Electric seats
Handbrake swapping place with cup-holders!

I'm sorry and also pleased to say the 140 is not much cop, my chipped 130 mk4 whooped one off the lights yesterday, and the guy was not happy, Wow you know what the Mk4's are gonna be old skool soon.

Yes but his mk5 probably had 500miles, was as tight as a virgin and probably didnt wanna razz it to the red line with it being so new.
