Think the lowest part of the car has to be 3inchs from the ground in the eyes of the law?

Although dont quote me on that, not that it matters at all

I thought as long as its not on the bump stops it legal in the eyes of the law.

there is a regulation, someone on ukpassats got pulled for it, but i am fcuked if i can find it

no mot tomorrow :(

got the throttle sorted tonight and moved the car forward and back, sounds awesome, idle's smooth, runs great.
problem was the brakes were sh!t, need to bleed them properly. i kind of bled them but need to do it again. i got no reverse lights, no wipers, a headlight is out, no coolant temp guage, ohh and no mot. so i thought it a bad idea to test drive it lol.

lit the wheels up though :D havent seen them smoke like that before :D :D :D

hope to sort the brakes out and the rest of it on sunday. not sure why reverse lights arent working or headlights but then i havent even checked the bulbs yet. wipers just need bolting on.

as for the wiper mech rubbing on the clutch cable, should be ok for now as the cable has a steel casing, but will check it after its been on the road for a while. just hope for no rain lol

will grab a video on sunday if i can/if its on the road. as for now will be posting another vid on youtube from tonight

Cheers LL ;)

test drove it today. found a few things wrong, but its not the end of the world:

still got no dash
havent got a 3rd gear and it crunches into 2nd
gearstick is slack and feels sh!t even when in gear
wiper arm fouls clutch cable
need a vacuum line from servo to inlet manifold so brakes work properly

other than that, its all good. got a few pics to upload with it out the garage.
ohh and i sprayed the bonnet black
cat1 going on next week and hopefully i can get most if not all the problems above sorted.
got a feeling i need to replace the whole cable shift mechansim - tower selector on the gearbox is slack and worn and there is a pin missing at the gearstick end holding one of the cables in place. cant get one new from vw as the whole lot is very very expensive  :( if anyone has it for a 02a box, let me know! cheers!

out.

I seem to recall that much later shift mechs bolt right up - you'll need the tower shifter, mech and cables, then unbolt your tower etc and drop the newer one straight in.

This would come out of something like a 1.6 or 2.0 petrol Golf, Octavia or Ibiza with a 5 speed box, obviously.  Do a sanity check on the cable length and eyeball the shifter - there are some pretty sexy looking shifters under the trim in later cars.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

OK so its MOT time today (and back to work time).

has changed a bit since i last posted a pic, bit more "sleeper" looking now lol.

managed to sort of adjust the shifter at the tower end. so can get all gears but its still sh!te. got a mk4 one like dh but havent fitted it yet. looks a lot more sexy than the current one!

will get pics soon when i get it back.

:)
