Problem is  http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=182015.new#new

As for the update .

Mr F was here quite early so we crack on.

Anti roll bar turned out to be a tw4t - i sheared one of the INNER bracket studs - see above link , then guy sheared one of the other studs       One All.

But finally it was off and not in that bad condition.

Next up were the  lower arms, a relative easy process as the 2 main bolts had been loosened last time to make sure the captive nuts didnt spin

then the front struts came off swiftly and were taken into work to have the springs removed, and THANKFULLY the main nutz came off with a spot of gentle encouragement from Mr Hammer.  :smug:

The inserts were fooked and had leaked a LOT, the top mounts were fubar'd and the ball joints arent very ball like.

So, next up was a spot of cleaning for Mr F,  and he has taken the front struts away to give them a new lick of paint

That was about it for today as i tw4tted my back into the vice on the workbench and was liable to get Mr Hammer out again

And a few piccies

Shiney Bitz

Look mum, no suspension

and he makes a good scrubber

Next up, fix the issue  buy some more bits and then rebuild

Not sure on the anti roll bar issue.

One small point, when you fit the inserts put a tiny amount of old engine oil in the housing, stops the insert rattling.

new spring plates on order... so I have two old ones going up for sale... I'll paint em up when i do the struts

pinch bolts purchased... they look different from the originals (same length and dia though) but I was assured they were correct

have been told by GSF that the bush kit for the wishbone WILL fit... and that it will stretch once inside the wishbone... looks like it is going to be a slag to fit  :lipsrsealed:

I just gave them a light coating so they were slippery.
