Yep, did that also took out the spindle, then you have to push the wheel towards
the front of the car and tilt the wheel  up away from you to clear the inside trim.
It may sound trivial but it seems a really piss poor design.

No experience of aftermarket alloys yet so talk of spigot rings and corrosion spooks me badly.

If spigot rings corrode and fuse to the alloy :

1) are they supposed to? and
2) what difference do fused spigots make to getting the wheels on and off?

Lower cost alloys like CM Prets don’t need spigot rings, should I just go for them instead and save myself £1,000?????

Sorry, that probably came across as overly dramatic. Spigot rings fusing to the alloy is no big deal and will easily fall out when removing the wheel but if you’re nitpicky like me you’ll want to replace them. Also, like others said here you can go with plastic items as long as you don’t plan on tracking the car.

Cheap pret copies are not in the same league - weight or quality wise - but they don’t need spigots (a minor issue common to most after market alloys). I looked at the cheap prets and couldn’t do it. Each to their own. Lots of happy customers on here.

You can get plastic spigot rings if you’re worried about metal spigot rings corroding and fusing to the alloys.

I would certainly believe they are linked. How on earth did you manage to snag it?

If it was a simple cheap fault, don't you think the seller would just get it fixed and either keep or sell on at the higher price? I very much doubt there is any money to be made.
