Title: Greenlight? More like red light!
Post by: Rgdogg on 06 August 2013, 11:39
Green light won't even insure me and my cars standard!!! They say its down to my post code, the major insurance companies have not got a problem insuring a 35 year old with 7 year ncd on a mk6 gti for around £500, and that's with my partner who's only been driving a couple of years, can't believe admiral are cheaper than these specialist companies who show prejudice to where someone lives! Rant over

Me too..Greenlight wouldn't insure me due to postcode, it seems they have a lot of restrictions where other insurer's don't.

Got a quote from sky insurance today and they were more expensive than over 10 insurance companies on these price comparison sites, and that's with another driver on the policy! Think it might be a case of postcode lottery!!

Is that not your issue? They specialise in modified cars and yours is standard...

I know im a 22 year old male but have 3 years no claims and no performance mods and advanced driver trained (blue lights and sirens) and they said they wouldn't insure me because I haven't owned a high performance car long enough.

Out of 52000 postcodes there are only approx 200 that we cannot quote for. By excluding the areas that have been a problem for us it keeps the overall claim costs down meaning we can offer lower prices in the 51800 postcode area that perform well for us.

Its not a detrement to your area it just means there has been a spate of car crime in the area. We only exclude a postcode if its been bad for 3yrs running.

We do specialise in modified cars so if yours is standard you will probably find the cheapest way to get cover is on the comparison sites. With Comparison sites they are great for standard cars as there are hundreds of insurers all in one place competing for standard cars so it leads to some great quotes.

When it comes to modified cars you will find that most compariosn sites are expensive or cannot quote at all. That is where we come in with our specialist modified schemes.

Sorry we couldnt help this time around. Hope you managed to get it sorted.

Best Regards
Neil
