Waterpump OEM manufacturer
« on: 08 June 2022, 19:36 »
My car looks as if it may be starting to suffer from the dreaded leaking water pump. Unfortunately it is no longer under warranty.

I am pretty handy with a spanner and was thinking of doing the job myself. I have seen a few youtube videos and i am more than confident that I can do it.

Is it worth buying a waterpump from anywhere else other than a dealer? I wasn't thinking of buying one of the £100 ebay specials, more like an INA which are around £250. I have used INA on other cars in the past with good results.

Is INA the OE manufacturer?

Many thanks.

You need to change the entire thermostat housing. I would go VW part if it was me. Mine went few years ago and no problem since

They were the prices for the pump and the housing.

I would do the whole lot.

I've done this myself. It's not that difficult and as you say many good videos on youtube.

As it's not a five minute job I chose to go with genuine parts. Try LLL parts - delivery is often 10 days or so but they've not let me down yet (come from Lithuania). Also check out Ebay often new old stock comes up.

Final tip try and get the latest part number revision. This can be done by cross referencing various websites eg Autodoc, shop Dap (USA based) etc.

Good luck

These are my go to sites for parts or part numbers.

Also check out this Mk6 video. Mk7 is pretty much the same engine.

Excellent, thank you for the help. I have used LLL parts before for BMW bits.

Just looking at this, the housing has INA moulded into it.

That looks good and a very straightforward purchase.

I've quickly looked up LLL parts and they seem to be around £375 inc postage for the 4 parts. Sometimes they offer a code that saves another 5% which covers the postage. Saving would pay for the coolant

All I can add with all of these things is take your time. It took me three or four goes before I was happy that the union seal (item 12 on EKTA) was properly seated. Touch wood not had any problems since replacing it for the last two years.

I have seen a couple of these for sale, with M revision and genuine parts for around the £160 mark. The small belt, and the stubby hose being extra on top.

Obviously that is a fair difference in price compared to LLL.

I think M is the latest version?

Yes, 'M' looks to be the latest revision.
