lowering mk6 2.0 TDI 140 DSG options please!?
« on: 07 February 2014, 15:25 »
Hi guys,

I got this car for my wife, its on 18 inch Vancouvers, looks pretty nice, but it looks like a dune buggy the ride height is so high!

I'd like to lower it just a small amount, say 10-15mm, so as not to upset the ride too much, because its our family car.

But I can't find any 10-15mm springs to lower my car.

spoke to awesome GTI who said minimum they can do is 25mm drop.

Is this right? I thought the GTD / GTI were only lowered 10mm from the factory. I'd like that sort of stance.

cheers

john

PS - seen some mk6 GTI springs on the classified section here . anyone know if these would  be suited to my diesel ?

Generally manufacturers quote the drop a spring will give from the standard height. As you have sports suspension you are 15mm lower to begin with, so a 25mm spring should give your a 10mm reduction on where you are at now.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I would like to lower it a max 10-15mm, but cant find the springs anywhere.

can I fit the GTD springs to it?

-30mm springs will make the car sit 'right'

It is twice the drop you are looking for but you wont have any issues and just think just how much 15mm ACTUALLY is

I assumed your car was a GT as it had Vancouvers, therefore would have sports suspension. If it is a SE or Match and you want to lower it 15mm, why not fit OEM GT TDI springs.

Yes, and it appears a member on here might be selling a standard set of mk6 GT TDI springs. See reply #110

yes, its a 2.0 TDI GT , thats why its got vancouvers. Its not a GTD tho.

its not lowered at all. Its riding really high! Desparately needs dropping

This does not sound right.  The GT has a standard 10mm drop compared to SE and Match so it should be a little lower than other models

My lower springs are listed -25mm and as said that's from std suspension ride height. If you want a quote for a set let me know

hi mate, what springs have you got for sale?

ideally after a set of OEM mk6 GTD springs which I believe are 15mm lower than the standard mk6.
