Lucky lad!

When I passed my test I was allowed to drive my Dad's MK3 Cortina 2.0 GXL

I know I started driving my Dad's vauxhall viva when I passed at 17 :undecided:

You’re both very lucky. I didn’t have the luxury of driving my parents car; I had to buy my own - a 7 year old Mini and British Leyland build quality wasn’t great to put it mildly, so the bodywork on a 7 year old Mini was tinged with brown (a.k.a. rust) in quite a few places .

Yeah, my parents wouldn’t let me near their car either so I had to buy my own.
And boy did they moan when I rocked up in a 7 year old Scirocco GTI

Long time ago since passing my test at 18 but next day after passing... borrowed an ex GPO Morris Van in original dark green livery.  O-60 in just over 3
minutes.

Plus very lucky to get a test, BiL needs his for work and has had it cancelled last minute three times!

Gutted that he's having to turn down work.

I had the same problem but a bit older than you! Got a beat up Morris minor 3 door but still managed to get a speedo 80mph out of it --------------  but took a while. First 'proper' car was a sunbeam rapier mk3a with twin carbs and overdrive in third and top - so 6 speed box and front discs. Not bad for 1967.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

Amazing how far things have come, I had the same as my first car, a 1963 Mini , but sold my last GTI at 6.5 years old and also have a 13 year old Touran, both are a world away from the state of the Mini.

Yesterday I had a res delete and i’m already regretting it. It sounds cheap in my opinion, even though it’s the VAGSport pipe. I’m more than likely going to get it reversed next week.

Anyone had a similar experience/opinion?

Dechromed the lower part of my grill (and caused an ACC issue because now it says front assist not available - any ideas?)

Also added a forge turbo blanket which was a pain to fit

How did you ‘de-chrome’ the VW badge that is the sensor?

Battery failed just after filling up. Changed it over an EFB one at the local Halfords, it was the only one in stock.

Is there any need to code the battery when replacing EFB with an EFB (same spec)? Starts and runs fine after a few warning lights which cleared after driving.
