Will it have to be replaced ?
I’d say the damage has spread too far for it to be repairable, so will need replacing.
-
If it were me I'd replace it as soon as possible. Whilst it may not be illegal as it is not in the drivers line of sight it is definitely only going to get worse and it's surely more dangerous in that condition so you're obviously going to have to replace it so do it sooner rather than later. It's not repairable the crack is too big.

Damm thanks peeps. These things happen

No one was injured that's the main thing.

Interestingly, Volkswizard recently said in one of his videos that he’d had to replace the windscreen in his MK8. The repair company said that this will happen more and more as new windscreens are thinner due to all the tech in there nowadays.

Was that a recent video, this was done just coming on to the motorway about 40 mph, lorry went passed and just kicked it up.

Thinner = lighter... Lighter = less co2
The other thing is the shape of the nose... And I thought the mk7 was bad for it... I had so many windscreens on those!
