no, replace the main pump last, you want to try the cheap easy things first and work your way up to the expensive things ;)

Does it take long to replace do you know?
replacing inner (lift) pump is simple. Remove rear bench and carpet above reservoir, then remove black round metal cap holding on three screws. Then remove 2 hoses and pull out plastic casing at whitch lower end is pump.

BTW> Common reason(s) for pump fault is driving on low ammount of fuel. First, then pump grabs more rubbish from bottom of reservoir (even there is a micro filter) and more important.....pump is supposed to be in fuel for whole time because fuel cools it. If that's not so, pump overheats and there you go in trouble.
