Title: Recommended VW Specialists
Post by: ch33ky_monk3y on 05 September 2003, 17:14
My general impression is that everyone thinks VW main dealers suck and would prefer to find a decent specialist. Is it possible to set up a directory on this forum?

I know some people have made recommendations for garages, but this will be more useful if it's in one location on the website.

The garage I use is in North London, (North Finchley N12). Can't remember the name, but the telephone no is 020 8445 7050

He always sorts out my problems and does not rip people off.

.....thats a very good idea to have a recommended specialist section!!

My car gets looked after by a private garage, run by very honest old chaps, they've done bits on it for years and I dont have any complaints. Its a Mrk3 Golf Gti16v with over 100,000 miles and they keep it in tip top condition with good honest service.

..........My point is, just recently my ABS light has come on and my usual garage cant really analyse the problem and said it was a thing for the dealers to sort out.

I'm loathed to take to them, its booked for this Thurs and I know I'm just gonna get ripped off!! (Colbornes in woking)......we'll see eh.

It would be great to have a recommended specialist list we can all refer to.

I HATE THE DEALERS!!......its just an old crap car in their eyes.

A list of recommended specialists is a top idea as I'll have a crack at most stuff, but big stuff and engine management faults I get scared at and get a garage to look at, which normally results in a good wallet spanking!!
Cheers

Omar if your lucky a garage will sort it out, cost u loads though, it'll be more than likely that they just take the bulb out so be carefull.  I've heard loads of stories about that sort of thing going on.
The Lion Garage in Leicester or Northampton is a solid garage people who know what theyre doing these VW Audi specialists have been a godsend for me.

Here's one for the South West of the country,

Wagenwheels based in Southampton, they are independent specialist of MK1 & Mk2 GTi's. So far I've been very pleased, only a one man outfit at the moment but offers an excellent service! I feel happy letting the guy work on my car, so he must be good  :o

WOW !!!

Thanks Zoid.. I was just about to ask if anyone knew a place in the Dorset region.  I have a lousy misfire when its either very cold or damp.   changed the dizzy, rotor leads and plugs but still no change.  Was about to change the coil but I might just give them a ring first :)

Thanks again :)

Paul.
