After having the oil changed, my car immediately says next change is due in 9400 miles, rather than the 10k as recommended. Any reason for this difference? Doesn't matter to me, but just curious :smiley:

Did they specify what oil they used and programmed accordingly??

They did yeah, Castrol Magnatec A3. Could indeed be the reason

Seems strange tbf, maybe they just built in a bit of time so you don't run over the 10k?

A conversion from kilometres to miles?
1.6 km to a mile from memory so circa 15000km might be recommended oil change in just about everywhere except the UK? Just a stab in the dark mind and I’m rubbish at maths.

Spot on! Yes, service intervals (annual time and distance servicing) are 15,000 kms which is roughly 9,300 miles.
From VW’s website (https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-services/servicing-and-parts/service-plans/service-schedules.html);
If you select fixed servicing for the first three years of ownership, your car will require an annual service inspection and oil service.
- 1st service (oil service) – at 9,300 miles or when your car is 12 months old.
- 2nd service – at 18,600 miles or when your car is 24 months old.
- 3rd service – at 27,900 miles or when your car is 36 months old.
