Mk6 gti 3 cylinders :(

Hi all.

I'm struggling to find a garage to sort my mk6 gti out. Basically its been off the road near a year
I was using it every day, then slowly developed a slight stutter under easy acceleration.
Changed coils & plugs, no help.
Did a smoke test, found smoke from intercooler, fuel pump (on side of the block) and out of a threaded hole on top of the gearbox? (looking at others, there doesn't seem to be anything bolted into the hole)
I bought and fitted a seal kit on the fuel pump, & it did help a bit, but i was waiting for payday to then get a intercooler and investigate the gearbox.
whilst driving home one day, all the warning dash lights came on, lots of smoke out the back, and firing on 3 cylinders! Its basically been parked ever since. The scan shows multiple misfires on multiple cylinders.
Really struggling to find someone willing to look at it, and i really dont have enough time to it myself, but Im looking for any ideas as where to start looking?
Ive been trying to find a replacement engine, but seems they are hard tom come by. 59 plate manual. CCZB.
If i search CCZB how, do i know that it will fit in my golf, as i can find many differnet specs it seems and not sure they are all the same through all the years?
just want it sorted now, as i miss the car big time Can anyone tell me what engines codes/years would fit in mine being the 59plate mk6 gti manual. or even better where to start looking to repair mine

What's the mileage on the car? It's a bit drastic looking for a new engine before the fault is properly diagnosed. Has anyone done a compression test?

Hi mate. Thanks for the reply. Mileage is around 120k. I cant remember off the top of my head, but some where near that.
Yeah i know, but I've had 2 garages say they'd put a new motor in and 3 others that when they realise what I've checked already they dont seem interested.
Yes compression test has been done, by 2 places. Once place said no issues, another said theirs changed colour.

getting fed up with it to be honest. I personally don't have time, to strip investigate etc, I just want to take it to a garage and have them fix it. No one seems to want to. They either want to swap a engine, or nothing at all.
The car has been mega the 5 years i owned it before hand. Never any issue, so i really dont want to scrap it!!! Perfectly good car all around this issue
All the garages want to do these days is servicing

I think you are confusing compression test with exhaust gasses in expansion bottle test ( head gasket). Compression test checks for cylinder compression.

What area are you in? A few good independent garages still left but you need to hunt them out.

Do a Google search for a VW specialist in your location.
They should have VCDS scan tool and be able to do running diagnostics and tests to eliminate alot of things.
They should know all the common issues with the TSI and be able to rule them out first

The gearbox bit sounds like the rear main seal (crank seal) isn't sealing properly. This can cause issues like misfire. This normally fails as the PCV valve fails and there's too much pressure in the crankcase. Common issue on this engine.
Do you have an oil leak from the gearbox to engine join.

Ah yeah was head gasket check. Will look into compression test.
