Check engine light and low oil light
« on: 20 December 2016, 01:21 »
Hi guys
Earlier today the check oil level light came on and the oil was on the low point of the mid markers of the dipstick.

So I topped it up (needed 750ml) and it was at the right level and oil level light switched off.

Then after an hour drive on m25 once pulling up at home the check engine light came on but no error message on the screen in the dials. Car drove ok....

Any ideas what this could be please?

I have VW warranty so can drop the car but wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts please

Update

VW roadside assistance did a scan and it came up as a faulty potentiometer in the intake manifold.

Apparently car is ok to drive still

Booked into VW for Jan

You will be glad you have the vw warrenty as the intake manifold will probably need replacement.

Update

It was the intake manifold. VW fitted a new one. All covered by extended warranty.

I have to admit the car just generally drives a lot smoother now and can feel smoother power when really pushing it. Not sure if that's all in my head but I think the new intake manifold has made a difference!
