Intermittent limp mode
« on: 29 August 2022, 17:20 »
I’ve recently purchased a 2014 gti , I’ve already had a couple of problems that sort have been fixed , on full throttle it would stutter then go then stutter then go into limp mode and rattle the engine at idle , turn it off and back on again and it’s fine until you floor it , anyway 2x back at the garage and they have replaced coil 1-2-4  and it’s been fine since , I started it 2-3 hours after I got home and it idled ruff and went to limp mode , so I turned it off and back on again and it was fine it way between idling temp and Halfway to idle I v temp .

Any ideas on what could be causing this ?

Thanks

Could be literally anything and first thing is you need a code scan, see if it throws up any fault codes.

If coil packs 1, 2, and 4 have been replaced, coil pack 3 may be the culprit, although its a pure guess based on the fact 3 of the 4 have already failed.
