Another situation. :undecided:

When you replace the front stock speakers with components & power them via an amp,
what happens exactly with the rear speakers? Will the 'stock' sound still be coming through,
is it just a case of adjusting the fader more to the front so they don't blow?

Thanks.

simple solution is to only run the fronts of the amp, and leave the rears running off the head unit.

basically only run the RCA cable to the amp for the fronts and then back from the amp to the speakers.

Thanks alot mate,

So basically, i don't touch the rear speakers or the wires from the head unit, just replace the adapter to connect
the RCA cable, run it to the amp & run the front comps from the amp.

I was worried that the amp would interfere with the rear speakers & i'd have to run the speakers from the amp.

But i'm guessing they'll blow if i don't fade more to the front?

almost.

if you're planning on using the existing wiring eg the loom that runs from the head unit to the speakers, then you're going to have to cut and crimp the loom.

there will be 2 wires (don't ask me which) that currently run from the head unit to the front speakers, you'll need to cut these and then crimp the return wires from the amp to these, when you cut the wires leave enough so that you can crimp them back if you remove the amp.

But i don't have to, right? Would it be easier to do the wiring straight from the amp & leave the existing
wiring where it is, but removing it from the HU if that makes a difference?

How are the stock rear/fronts connected to the hu btw? I've been trying to find some piccies, but no luck.

Chris,

yeah you can go straight from the amp to the speaker, just you'll have to route the wire all the way from the amp location (normally the boot) to the speakers and it can be a squeeze.
