the 1.8t engine isnt the MOST difficult to strip, but if your not confident then drop it into garage.
but do you have mechanical skills? could get another engine for 200-400 and drop it in yourself, if you plan well then you could get it all done in a day. looks a lot harder than it actually is. great thing about vws is you dont really need an engine hoist either, front end off car and you can just drop it and slide it out (simplified a little bit there, lol)
