tappping noise
« on: 18 August 2011, 18:55 »
Me and the mrs recently aquired another tdi golf (again), its the 110bhp non pd model, anyway is was fine for the first few days, then it was parked up for 2 weeks in the garage, got it out today and noticed a odd ossiue.

Basically the car drives fine but sometimes when you come to  a junction etc and dip the clutch when you at a stand still theres a woerd flapping/tapping noise form the engine, you mainly hear it iff the window is down, the idle also goes very slightly rough/eratic, but it only last for around 3-5seconds and then engine returns to normal, must be engine related i would have thourght as the clutch/gearbox was replaced about 15,000 miles ago. As said, car drives fine and is avergaing around 45mpg around town and pulls well etc, could it be MAF meter maybe? or something like egr valve playing up? Theres no warning lights up on the dash though

Any advice would be a real help
Thanks

So was it just a case of removing some air from the fuelling system?

did they run a diag' on it?  probably worth getting it done to see if any of the sensors have failed.

does it do it when the clutch is down ? if not it maybe your thrust bearing on your clutch ! unlikely though
