yayyyyyy!

small capacity forced induction is the future , F1 is meant to be at the forefront of motoring. V8 engines are a dying breed.

i'll miss the sound they make but thats not the be all and end all of F1 for me.

It's the sound I'm going to miss.

However I reckon it'll make them go round quicker, lower centre of gravity and lower engine mass.

And the 1.5l turbo engines used in the 80's were producing 1200hp+

there was talk of bringing back ground effect like the 80's era turbo cars too but i've not seen anything on that in a while.

at least VAG may think again about entering F1 seeing as they excell at small capacity twin charged engines.

Hopefully they won't go through with that rule change, I would prefer to see them shorten the championship to reduce costs there are now too many uninteresting tracks.

Didn't they say they was going to wait for there to be a change of the engine regs so they would be on a fairly level playing field?

Webber raced the last four races with a broken shoulder: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/9260822.stm

I did say in an earlier post i had gone off him in the last few races because he wasnt himself!!

Should be interesting in the wet. Turbo kicking in at inopportune moments, plus shock cooling when they go through water. Should be quite interesting.
That is if we are still here after 21 December 2012!! :lipsrsealed:

I quite like the idea of smaller turbo engines. V8s are great yeh, but slightly boring now as they are essentially just a poor mans V10. They don't go pop nearly enough and although I'm sure if you're actually at a race the sound is great, through a TV it's just noise. I think 1.6Ts with mental boost and no traction control could be good. We're still looking at pretty much the same power figures anyway so nothings really going to be lost in terms of speed.
