Google Motorscan and enter the reg to find out stuff like it’s done 14k between MOT 10/23 and 10/24, etc.
It’s a nice looking car.

It’s had 3 owners.
Personally that would deter me but that’s just me.

I wouldn’t necessarily not consider it. Just speculating, but it’s possible the first owner was a VW dealership who ordered it for dealership stock and then registered it to themselves if it hadn’t sold after x months. If so, then IMHO it’s had two ‘real’ owners so far during its 4 - 4.5 year life. Alternatively, a previous owner might have fallen on financial hard times and could no longer afford to keep it and moved it on after only a short period of ownership.

If everything else checks out (i.e. condition, service history, spec etc.) then IMHO it’s still worth considering.

This is my case exactly. Dealer registered and then one owner. Managed to get some documentation showing this otherwise would not have bought it.

You have to check that ownership history as headline figure can be deceiving, the 2019 R we bought last Sept, had a dealer, then one owner who had for 3 + years and then another who had 6 months and traded in for a MK 8, so it was 2 in reality, and the VW garage was the point of exchange for all them owners, with FSH with the same dealership.

I was looking for 1-2 owners at the time, but once provenance was explained and proved, felt pretty comfortable with purchase, and its just passed its recent MOT and Service with no advisements so after 6 months of ownership have got to stage where felt made good decisions and got ourselves a good un.

Even with good diligence its a bit of spin of wheel, so do tend to just buy from VW Approved for that 2 year warranty. Though would have bought car convinced enough outside of VW with FSH and immediately bought a VW warranty.

Did at time of searching, see one, highly modified R on Auto Trader with 7 previous owners! think that's for the specialist mechanics amongst us, definitely not for someone like me
