Target Price/Percentage deal
« on: 17 August 2021, 19:10 »
Hi

I’m looking to trade my 18 month old Fiesta ST in for a Golf GTI (Basic spec, Metallic paint+different wheels).

I’m wondering what kind of deals are available at the minute. Carwow prices don’t seem to be too great. The best I’ve seen are Drive the Deal prices (just under 30k).

If anybody has any tips on beat prices etc or advice that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You'll do well to beat Drive The Deal on price TBH.

But lead times might be an issue.

Yep. Use DTD directly or to either beat or match their price at the dealers. I’ve just posted in another topic though that I was advised that the wait is now 54 weeks for a gti. Gulp!

Wow this must be a new record!

That’s the thing price isn’t the only thing you should base your decision on.

You might find a retailer that can get you a car a lot sooner but can’t offer any or much discount.

But I would be taking advantage of the high used car prices and getting rid of your as soon as possible.

The question you have to ask your self what is your 18 month old Fiesta worth in 3-6 months….. let alone 12 months …….

I’m getting offers of 18.5k to 19k at the minute and I have quite a bit of equity in it. I’ve looked at the latest Mini and I was also hoping to view the new polo gti but there is no sign of it.

The new (facelift) Polo GTI is showing on VW’s website as ‘coming soon’ and as far as I’m aware, the order books haven’t opened yet so it’ll be some time before you’ll be able to view one.

Last year when I bought mine, lead times were around 7 months, so once order books do open for the facelift version, I’d expect lead times to be at least 7 months - probably longer if the supplies of semiconductors haven’t improved.

I’ve just talked to a dealer and orders are being taken for the new polo gti. Expected delivery is 3 to 4 months.
