Title: New car queries
Post by: Foxy367 on 21 June 2021, 21:28
Hi all so I’ve had my Clubsport just 4 days and other than my temperature since forgetting it’s last setting the car so far is working fine. I’m happy with the infotainment yes it’s a touch sensitive but it’s certainly a a step forward in how it looks compared to the 7.5. I have a couple of queries though which I cannot find anything either elsewhere on the forum or online.

1. How on earth do you delete a favourite or the home/ work address? I’ve managed to add my home as my work address too but can’t for the life of me figure out the editing function.

2. I have sorted my primary user account and got we connect. It’s all talking to each other my calendar syncing etc. Is there a way to send a destination direct to the Nav, looking at the privacy settings and instructions it seems to infer you can but I can’t figure it out!!!

3. Last but not least, is there a way to change the guest user so they can’t change privacy settings, someone showed a video on Facebook showing how you can turn off the location settings which means the car goes invisible. Not ideal if it was stolen

Thanks in advance

Foxy

It sounds like you got your car on the same day as me. Volkwizard did a Top 10 tips on his Clubsport which showed how to stop anyone turning off your location and I've set this up on mine.  It involves setting a PIN number on your profile. You can drive without entering your PIN but can't change any settings until you enter it.

I haven't got a clue on Q1 or Q2 but hopefully someone else can help us with those.

At the moment you can't send a destination to the car from the app.... Supposed to be coming eventually.

I have watched this video numerous times and cannot see where he says you can drive without entering your PIN but cannot change any settings? Do you have the time on the video where he shows you how to do this?

Problem I had that was my car would load default settings until I entered my PIN which wasn't helpful having a typhoon in your car in the morning before work because the blowers were blasting out cold air.

I can't remember if VolksWizard said that in the video.  It's just what I have experienced since I set the PIN on my car a few days ago and it's the same when my wife uses the car.  When we get in, the PIN screen comes on and we have to log in to play any music or set a sat nav destination but if you're just popping 10 mins down the road, you can still start the engine and drive away (with the PIN request still on screen).

I think I may have a solution to Foxy's first question about deleting destinations too.  Try just swiping the destination from right to left.  Just tried in mine and that brings up a bin.  Press that to delete.

The pin thing allows the settings to be loaded for that user which is what Andrew (Volkswizard) mentions. I thought this would secure the settings related to location permissions through the e-sim alas it doesn’t. If you don’t put in the pin and change user to guest as the guest you are able to change the privacy settings and change the privacy settings to full which then turns off the location element (ie you can’t locate the car through We-Connect).

The swipe thing doesn’t seem to work on mine but I have managed to figure out how to change/ delete the destinations. For home and work you have to put a new one in on the configuration wizard. For the favourites tap the favourite destination it comes up on the screen as it routes the nav. Tap the heart and another menu comes up to “delete favourite”

If that is right Foxy all I can say is that it's absolutely piss poor software design.  The only person who should be able to change location permissions is the primary user.  Doesn't make any sense for guests to be able to switch it off.  Do VW want cars to be stolen?
