Was at my local dealer today getting some bits and the salesman I know there asked if I fancied a peek at the new MkVI that they had in the valet bay ready for the showroom.. Thought may as well have a quick butchers
Now ignoring the fact that it is a 2.0TDI and still has the transport blocks in as it's sitting silly high, I didn't think it'd looked to bad..

The interior is fantastic IMO and is a real step up from the MkV. Really looking forward to seeing the new GTI in March. Also has a few new features, including parking camera in the rear VW badge, all colour coded bumpers, and rear washer jet is in the spoiler brake light . Along with a few other bits..
Anyway, thought i'd share the pics to see what you boys think? (Camera phone though i'm afraid )

I think the front "grill" has potential of having a rather mean look. Looks cool man and quite cool of the salesman to let you have a peak
-
The interior look great
As for styling well the front is the most sucessful, the rear looks pretty good and the sides are frumpy as with the mk5.
Overall much nicer than the mkV imo
-
The non-GTI Mk5 looks nasty imo - the Mk6 is a lot better. However, I don't think the Mk6 GTI looks better than the Mk5 GTI - I think the front is too angular, though the back is ok. The sides minus the strips is a stupid idea plain and simple - the number of Mk6 GTIs scarred from shopping trips will be witness to that. Overall, its a Mk5.5 and not worth changing over to unless you don't drive a Golf or you don't have a GTI and want one.
-
It really has grown on me, I may even like it more than the MKV, hopefully the GTI will look the business in the flesh.

Like the front, not so sure about the back. I think the standard mkvi looks miles better than the standard mkv. As for the mkvi gti, i don't get the same feeling as i did when i saw the mkv gti for the very first time - the urge that i've got to get one.
-
Definitely growing on me !
Still standing by my original opinion that is is a MK5.5. Its too similar to the MK5 for me which is by no means a bad thing, just would have been to see something a little different. Compare MK4 to MK5, imo a massive improvement and a completely different car.
The reason why the standard looks better is because it has fully coded bumpers and non of the cheap looking plastic grey bumpers that are not only on the standard but also on our (fook off ED30 boys ;) GTIs. Its amazing how much better a fully coloured coded car looks.

Looks
Interior defo looks a step up. It has potential and appeals to me alot more than the MKV did when it first appeared. I will have one with a 3.2 V6 and 4-wheel drive pls..... oh hang on... I already have one
-
Honestly guys I can't stress how nice the interior was... Just the dails, instruments and stereo.. Really was nice.. Pic doesn't do it justice
-
i like it and if thats just the derv   then the gti should be
-
I do like the interior looks nice. Skoda heating controls :undecided:

Been reading Auto car mag and they are now saying it will be August/September before we see even the standard MKVI GTI. The Scirocco Studie R is touted as being put into production in early 2010. No mention yet of when a GTI-R would be available.
-
Will I'm covering the MKVI Launch on Jan 7th in Basingstoke for torqueVW which ties in with this one being prepped for a showroom for around the same time. Maybe deliveries of built to order cars would be August/Sept or did they mean the GTI?

Good work Ben! Interior does look nice. Although the proposed new power output just doesnt seem enough even if they bring out a GTI-R. I have my sights on the Scirocco Studie-R, that is lush!
-
Not convinced by the rear of the MkVI I'm afraid. Mind you, would never be looking at it
-
Quite like it tbh
Interior is fantasdtic

No matter what it looks like, VW are going to have a hell of a time flogging them.
I predict discounts around Feb/March next year.
-
interior looks nice, however white dials and not blue? Looks like audi...
-
I've just been down to vw to look at something with my friend and the mk6 was in the showroom looking amazing, i have to say face to face its looks really good ! Laura
-

Yes I've noticed that. Shame. I think it's meant to be cos blue is too hard on the eyes at night.
-
After driving both the petrol and diesel versions, I would say it is an improvement, but not enough to make me want to change from my MkV. It's a little quieter (more engine insulation and 10% thicker windows) and the interior quality is a little better (most notably on the soft touch rubbery dash top). The loss of the blue dials is a shame, but they thought white looked more modern. Overall, there are dozens of minor changes that are hard to spot (or make little difference).
The rear looks better on the road than the pictures as it makes the car look wider and lower. Interestingly, people who liked the MkIV and not the V, liked the VI more.
The biggest improvement is the common rail diesels. They are MUCH smoother (and lower emissions). The full body colour bumpers are in response to complaints and everyone wanting black cars to hide the cheap looking bumpers. Why they didn't make the MkV body coloured (like the ED30) I don't know.

Still standing by my original opinion that is is a MK5.5
It was my understanding that that is exactly what it is

popped into the local stealer's yesterday and they have a MK6 on the showroom floor exactly the same as in the pics that start this thread off. very Scirocco from the front. the interior was very nice, similar to the CC and Scirocco.hes just done the VW MK6 training/ familiarization and he reckons that the GTI will be released only 6 months following initial sale, so could be as soon as July time.
