Title: Buying 1.8t AUM
Post by: Southside on 14 May 2023, 10:35
So I'm going to have a look at an 2003 with 118k on the clock later today. Normally I would take a mate who a VW tech but he's not available. What should I be looking for? Any common issues that I should check for? Both engine and bodywork items would be good. I know it's common for rust on the side skirts and rear boot but any where else I should check? Turbo spooling sound has been mentioned I think. What should I be listening for?

TIA

All 1.8t engines can suffer from a blocked pick up pipe screen in the sump if regular oil changes have been neglected. If the oil light is flickering, it's probably already too late.
