Title: Insurance quote was £699 before my 24th Birthday, now it is £1100. wtf?

So I ran insurance quotes for my mk3 16v GTI a week or so before my birthday. The cheapest I got was £699.

I decided to wait until after my birthday as I didn't really need the car and the price would come down surely? Now the cheapest quote is £1100, why on earth has the price nearly doubled??

Any ideas??

if the quote was via an aggregator, then its likely that the insurers have just changed their rates / terms (try running it through as being 24 again and I'm sure you will see an even bigger rise). Many aggregators even warn that as rates are changing the quotes are only valid their and then.
