Well today me and the gti spent 4 lovely hours together. I'm wanting to install a new CAN gateway, and after several searches I found some good DIYs to follow. After around an hour if stripped off the windscreen wipers and all the gubbins underneath (apparently easy access to the CAN gateway from this angle). Well as it happens, my gateway isn't in that position. After replacing all the bits, I started going in from the opposite end. Turns out it was tucked tightly up behind the clutch pedal :/

I now have very little skin left on my arm, as te sharp plastic bits have whittled it away. Finally got the old CAN out, new CAN in and copied the installation list across to match the old settings. The dash lit up like a Christmas tree, and VCDS spat out a foook load of errors. Highly depressed and slightly concerned I'd killed my car, I bottled it and switched back in the old gateway.

4 hours work with nothing to show of it has left me feeling pretty deflated. However I am going to re-attempt this again, but maybe another weekend.
