This one is the 1500cc 44hp version with disc brakes on the front for extra stopping power! So not far off being a Beetle R really...

Proper labour of love it must’ve been to restore too.
As for the Beetle R, they did an RSI Beetle many years ago, very limited LHD only production using a 3.2 VR6

They did do a Beetle Turbo too towards the end of its life so a shame they didn’t use the Golf R 2.0 even if it would have been FWD like the Scirocco R
