Just found the site today, been a GTI owner for 2 years with my Red MK3 8v Anniversary model which is completely original including the original Sony player, with only a CAT 1 alarm system fitted for the obvious security. The car has covered 71,000 miles, has had 2 previous owners and is pretty much unmarked although its now starting to suffer the the usual problems with the BBS rims flaking etc. These are planned later this year for a restoration, together with the red calipers being re-done.
The only issue is the drivers seat is starting to fade (see my post in the cosmetic forum). Other than a few bleamishes on the front with stone chips and a small scuff by the previous owner on the textured top of the front bumper, the GTI is very sound mechanically with no problems since i bought it. It has a continuing full VAG servicing history and i couldn't be any happier with it.
Never owned a VW car prior to this and now i wouldn't consider any other make than a VW
I live in Southend-on-Sea, Essex for all my sins and never ever been tempted to 'cruise' the seafront with all the chav'd up Corsa's & Saxo's. I have to much respect for that crap.
