twin sensor not working (which is the pressure sensor)...

you might need to remove the sensor to look at the part numbers as they are very small.
If the part number has 'A' on the end then it fits on the oil filter housing.
If it has no 'A' then it fits on the side of the cylinder head like mine.

I fitted the original MFA wire to pin 'G'. Pin 'WK' went to the VDO pressure guage.
On the back of the VDO guage you can easily mix up 'G' as 'ground'. 'G' goes to the sensor.

RJ convered most of this on his threads but its quite confusing till you get out there and deal with it

Water temp...
Im guessing the engine temp needle will not function correctly if you added the oil temp wire to the water sensor.

Thinking about it. Do you need water temp? The engine temp needle does this surely? The MFA will give a digital reading though.

Possibly use a 4 pin water temp sensor off a mk4 polo?
:)

blue if you wired it up like you say that wont work ;)
Pin G goes to the VDO gauge, WK is where the original oil pressure switch wire goes.  Also the MFA wire cant go to pin G, as the MFA is a temperature display and the dual pole sensor is pressure.

oze, if you want your mfa to display watr temp you need to swap your mfa white colar sensor to where the black water temp sensor is currently, the water sensor isnt the right rating for the mfa. you could run both though, get yourself a side flange from a MK2 8v with aircon, and a later mk2 2 pin black water temp sensor, fit those and run the red/yel wire to the 2 pin plug, run the earth wire for the sensor to the head somewhere.  then fit the white colar oil temp sensor to the front flange, and block the old mfa hole off with the water temp sensor or a vdo oil temp sensor if you have one, on audi gauges the right sensor has a blue collar

Rubjonny, Im confused now.

But when I swapped the temp wires over, the MFA reads about right for the water temp (unless I've messed up my wires).
I'm partially colourblind, so colours don't make much sense to me.

Wire A = flat spade connector that fits to the front of the oil housing.
Wire B = White collar (the big plastic bit) that fits onto the rear of the oil housing.
Wire C = flat spade connector on water housing.

If I swap wire C for A, the MFA reads a temp (pretty much correct I think at 90-100deg)
If i disconnect this wire, the mfa reads blank.

So I take it I've moved the wrong sensors wires! My temp gauge doesn't move normally , hence swapping the mfa readout!

On the gauge, the 3 horizontal lines = ground???

Cheers

it will register a display on the mfa, but the sensor is still the wrong rating.  note the sensor on the filter housing has a WHITE colar, and the one on the water housing has a BLACK colar, they are different ratings.  Take the white colar sensor out, put it in the water flange, fit wire A and job done.  Fit the water sensor to the filter housing, to block the hole.

Collar= big plastic thing?

The white (oil) has a collar, but the only plugs I have on the water side of things are:
non-insulated female spade
2 pin sensor plug.

The only thing that would interchange is the female spade connectors.

collar = small bit of plastic just bellow the connector.
mfa oil temp = white
water temp = black
audi vdo sender = blue

just swap the small sensor over, they are the same shape, just have a different colour on the plastic collar

not sure, best ask the seller if it will work with an audi gauge, but for a start the thread pitch on that is wrong you need M10x1

Actually RJ, the thread is right. 1/8th NPT is M10x1 ;)

That sender should drop straight in.
