Good VW Insurance

Just thought id post this up guys, as I know the hunt for good insurance is forever lasting. Was beginning to think I was going to end up paying a fortune this year. 

25, driving for about 6yrs with 3yrs no claims, no convictions etc. Had got loads of silly quotes off companies until I got a good quote of Diamond (not much good to you blokeys any way) - £506 fully comp, which included £150 voluntary excess, my alloys and leather interior declared, and the extra charge for monthly installments.

Phoned a local company called Brentacre Insurance (I think they are VW specialist insurers) for a renewal quote today and they matched the quote (give or take a fiver) on their Moded VW scheme. On this I can make any further mods, add them to my policy and not be charged any more. Pretty darn good I think. Plus, they actually replace/compensate for the mods unlike most other companies (including Diamond) who will only replace as standard. Only downfall, its a £350 excess which they recon they could get down to £300 for me, sounds a lot, but when you think how much the mods alone would cost to replace I think its worth it.
The guy did say that the fact that ive got a Cat 1 helps, and if I was a Club GTi member they would give me an extra £20 quid off.

Im pretty impressed so think im gonna go with it. What do you guys think?

Maybe worth giving them a bell if your looking to renew. And NO, I dont work for them or know anyone who owns the firm. I just know what it can be like trying to find a company which isnt extensively going to rip the P*** out of us. Hope this is helpful to someone.

Have you tried Tesco's???

I couldnt find anybody cheaper than them!

That brentacre one - i tried them and they were 120 quid dearer!

Nah, tesco wanted over £800. I was with Elephant for 2yrs, but they quoted a renewal of over £700, gave them another chance but they could only do £580 odd.
The thing that appeals to me is the fact you can add your mods at no extra cost and that they also replace them. Its always been something ive worried about. If my car dissapeared Diamond would only consider it as standard even though everything was declared and paid (extra) for.
Any other suggestions would be welcomed though. Havent accepted any quote yet and have a week or two to do so.

That does surprise me about Tesco's though. Perhaps they like me!

Aint done much to mine yet - so dont really mater atm. but if i make more changes then i would consider the one you found, sounds a good deal.

Im with Highway Insurance through H.I.C brokers

They do exactly the same as brentacre, i.e no extra charges for mods etc... however, they do charge an "administration fee" of £25 whenever you ring to tell them about any mods, they say its to cover their expenses (paperwork)

Another benefit of using them is that they do an "agreed valuation" policy, where you send them some pics of your car and tell them what you reckon its worth. They will either agree with you, or not and send you a certificate to state that your car is worth... £*** whatever. So, in theory (not tested it yet thank god) you should get back (less the excess) what it is worth.

I'm with Brentacre this year and I've done some mods since taking the policy out and they just say fine, I'll let the company know which is cool, I think they don't like it much when you mod the power. They are a bit steep on the excess but I guess that only comes into play if you claim.

Im sure I had a quote off Highway through a broker, but they couldnt do a good quote this time.
Its so strange how some people get great quotes, then they give others bad ones. Mad.
