As per the title which oil do VW recommend and use to top up the MK8 GTi?

It should be shown on a silver sticker at the front of the engine compartment.

I use (well will when I need to add any) shell helix ultra 0w-20 £20 plus at dealers £13 from euo car parts

Cheers all. Also does anyone know if you can check the oil on the info/dash like in a 911?

I don't think you can check it, but a message comes up telling you how much to add if it drops below the minimum level.
