Mk4 2-DIN advice please?
« on: 26 July 2009, 21:22 »
A friend has a slightly weird setup in his Mk4 Golf: a tape deck and a CD in a 2-DIN setup.... the CD player has gone nuts, so now he's looking at other options and I'd suggested getting something like an Audi Symphony (or even a Symphony II+) headunit off fleabay...

He only has £100 or so, would like a 2 DIN solution so there's no gaps (or blanking plates) in the dash, CD stacker would be highly favoured, MP3 would be "nice", but preferably should look reasonably smart and OEM(ish), so no Kenwood disco lights ;)

Will the Symphony / SymphonyII+ slot straight in?

Any other recommendations?

thanks - I 'll check that: I'll try to fit the old Audi Concert out of my B6 A4 in there and see if they line up - thanks for the warning!

I know the newer rounded Audi units won't fit (same as Mk5 Golf), but what about a B6 Symphony or one of earlier A3 units (same chassis as the Golf Mk4)?

ah - okay thanks for the advice!

any recommendations on discreet (preferably cheap) 2din headunits out there - jsut needs CD, preferably with a multiloader / MP3, but jsut a CD is a start... would def prefer 2-din so there's no blanking plates.
