"May I suggest having a baby. I had one last week. Kinda taking my mind off waiting for the new motor "

But that's 9 months from order to delivery - even worse than VW.

Should have planned ahead then shouldn't he

At least you know for certain its 9 months and that its not going to be held up by a rear view camera

In all seriousness when i went to collect my car the dealer told me that the delays where down to the issues with the camera so someone is telling porkies. Has anyone who has received their car to date ordered the camera?

I have seen cars with sat nav pro, 19" alloys, pano roof, Oryx paint, keyless entry, winter pack all collected. If no one has picked up a car with the camera then that it a fairly big hint that its causing problems.

I'm sure its been said before but why cant they build the cars with the camera preparation and get the dealers to fit it when it is available.

Agree.  But possibly the supplier provides the entire kit as one item.  They won't be shipping VW partial kits even if they could do so.

Or possibly it is the preparation or a specialised loom that is in short supply and not the camera itself. Either way, VW should be able to provide an answer.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Hehehehehe, you are right, I should have planned ahead, but I'm not good at that.  Congratulations 5-0!

A friend of mine comes into work looking like a zombie and immediately falls asleep at his desk.  His boss creeps up on him and then yells "Mark MARK! Wake up!" causing him to leap out of his seat in fright.  Andy, his boss, then walks off giggling (Andy's children are much older).  This happens two or three times a week without fail.  Last time I asked about his children he gave me a haggered look and simply said "I haven't slept for two years."

Not that I'm ruling children out mind, but I am aware there are some risks.

I never had this issue, little one always slept like a baby (no pun intended)!

I have the Camera ordered for my GTD - would not be happy at all if I had to remove it to get the car as it was the first option I specced.  I ordered at the start of May and have a unconfirmed BW of 39 - so should know in the next few weeks if there are going to be problems.  I hope not...
On Order: 02/05/13
GTD: Carbon Grey, Winter Pack, Keyless, High Beam Assist, Park Assist, Rear View Camera, Furry Dice
Collected: 06/11/13

If the NL order book opened before UK then it might matter.  i.e. his car was built long before they started to see increased demand for cameras, but by the time UK orders were down and they got around to RHD cars they had run out?

Maybe I'm cynical but I'm strongly suspecting that they screwed up and didn't hold back cameras for the delayed UK GTIs and now they have run out of them... only they don't want to admit this so they're just blaming problems on a general unavailability.  It seems certain that there are (or have been) other big delays but I think a lot of the current delays could be the camera...

Why are some UK cars delivered while others ordered in April still have no BW?  Logically this means they lack some parts since they clearly can make cars if they want to.  What could they be lacking?  Hmm I wonder...

I really hope we can get some proof that cameras are holding up April orders because if so I will be writing to ask for compensation and an apology.
