Time for a rant.
You think you find a garage you can trust, and it turns out not!
The car went in for cambelt and tracking. Where I'd had column out, wheel wasn't straight. They said it was unlikely tracking would be done as it was a saturday and very busy.
Picked car up later that day. Told tracking had been done, as was very quiet. They were also closing early as a result.
Got it home to check their work, and the intake pipe hadn't been connected. Thought little of it, and put it back on myself.
First time driven today - steering wheel isn't straight.
Wasn't happy, so rang garage to complain, and got excuses after excuses.
Excuse No 1. We were very busy.
Excuse No 2. Main mechanic wasn't there.
Excuse No 3. Bolts were seized and had to be torched to get moving.
These 3 went round in a circle, but how would the main mech know if they were busy if he wasn't there
Also, the receptionist gave the game away when I picked the car up as she said they wasn't busy. Plus all the mech were just hanging about.
I had said I didn't mind if the tracking wasn't done there and then. But as they had done the job, would have thought it would been done properly. Esp as bill came to much more than I was expecting.
Finally got them to agree to fix it, had to take a morning off work on Thurs so they can do it as won't do it at weekend.
Calmed down a bit. Drove home from work which is about 40 miles. Sat in traffic, I could here a loud whining. Couldn't work out what. Hear it at idle, low revs, then engine noise wiped it out.
Got home, and car sounds like its supercharged its that loud. Had a look, as it hadn't made the noise before. Both serpentine and pas belts are new, and seem ok tension wise, although they would have been off to change cambelt.
Bit of googling, and what would you know was the top result?
Incorrectly tensioned cambelt
I know my car isn't some expensive exotica, but a little care would have been nice. Wouldn't have been so annoyed if they had just stuck up their hands to say they'd made a mistake.
