I've been offered £23750 by a VW dealer this morning. The straight PX offer against the retail price of a 530d I am interested in was £23k but I had already been offered £750 off the retail price for a purchase without PX.

I would be all over that offer like a rash but then again I don’t like to wait around and take a risk. That’s a good offer and, if you wait, it can only go one way.

So roughly 17% loss.... I guess if VAT was still 17.5% I'd have been about right.

When I said "loose the VAT", I don't mean literally, I mean that you loose about 17-20% in resale value when you take delivery compared to purchase price!

So it's a goodbye from me then, I enjoyed my time with the GTI immensely and if it wasn't for the scumbags who try and steal them I'd still have it. VW do need to fit better tyres as standard though, trying to pull off in anything other than perfectly smooth and dry tarmac was a wheelspin-fest.

Theft of GTIs can't be that bad as my insurance is dirt cheap. If thefts were more prevalent the premiums would show it

Great price, true regarding tyres... I’ve put winter tyres on mine, and it’s changed the car, so much more grip, even in the wet...
