Title: No sunset... But GTI+Clouds=Average Pictures
Post by: 08micsta on 22 July 2007, 16:01
Ok... So my last post I made with piccies involved a sunset and the mothers GTI. Got some wonderful comments and felt rather proud
So today I decied to give the GTI a good cleaning while I installed the new airvents in the back of the car. (Kiddies and outings broke the vents   )

Please. If you dont like them make a point of telling me what you dont like so I can maybe change it the next time I take pictures. If possible.....please also tell me which angle you like on the GTI because I am running out of ideas for interesting pictures

A link to my other pics thread: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=60641.0

Thanks

Then my fathers Pajero which has been waxed recently and had some rust removed from the door sills (He rides a jetski-go figure)

Gotta teach them from young

And my favourite for the day:

In total I took about 75 pictures in the space of 4 minutes (We could see the rain coming across the mountains and I insisted we get the cars inside :smug:  )
Some extra info, the car is a year old. And the Pajero is 7 years old. (Father refuses to sell it).
The GTI has been jetwashed since we got it. Has not yet been waxed and has been in only one minor, but expensive accident.

Comments please!

Football?? You must be joking. i have no hope for it happening. Though there are a lot of changes taking place at the moment.
But lets not start a huge big political discussion lol

i'm coming down to cape town in december/january with my girlfriend (she's saffa)

Been to SA once before (last year) but only did Maritzburg and Durban. Can't wait to see more of the country!

Wonder how much it'd cost to ship my car down for the month?

hi 08micsta did you notice that the council re-skinded most of the n1 for cape argos bike race in a matter of a few weekends. In the uk a job like that would take months to complete. Also What an embarressment if the stadiums arent complete on time, do they have a plan? (been to teazzers yet)

Yeah. But the problem is not the Stadium. Its everything that needs to happen to make the Stadium accessable. Fpr exam. The traffic on our roads has become completely horrendous in the space of 2 years. Our roads cant keep up as it is and they want a World Cup?
The shacks. Now I dont mind those little square houses they are making for everyone. But the shacks HAVE GOT TO GO! It makes the country look low class and pathetic. Crime..... Lets not even go there. We have a absolutely stunning country. I have been to Australia and travelled over there and it does not compare to South Africa. If you want I can post my latest pictures I took.

I really hope we can pull this world cup off. It would do wonders to our economy and its a quick way for me to get rich because I leave school next year and it gives me just enough time to start a business.

With regards to the actual stadium. I think they do have a plan. But htey are battling to put it in action. There is a big debate about wether it should be built in JHB or Cape Twon or even (out of all places) Uppington

I will have hope. BEcasue this 2010 World Cup means big bucks for my father (Hes in the oil industry) and for me who will prob go into interior design or photography which will be in high demand.

I have been to SA - mainly CapeTown (Kommetjie) 6 times now. I love the place. I really want them to pull off the World Cup out there but at the minute I think things may be a bit tight.

One thing I would love is to get my R32 out there. Some of the roads are simply amazing. Stunning views and locations. Wide and well built roads on many of the main routes.

I have to agree

We have:

Ou Kaapse Weg (Lotsa corners. Fast downhill)
Sir Lowryies pass (Words cant explain it)
Chapmans Peak (Do not turn the ESP off   )
And a few others. I cant think of there names. We were on Blackhill the other night (A short short pass with a long long and very calm straight down into Glencairn) the other night and a Black R32 came past us like we were going backwards. Didnt even have time to whip out my camera. We were in the 4x4 so didnt stand a chance against it. But it was stunnin and you could see SHE was enjoying it.  (Yes it was a female driver)

World Cup. Yeah. Things are tight but we seem to be moving and getting somewhere.

I really want to buy a house out there and leave a GTI or R there for when I come out on holiday

Can I be honest.
If you are going to buy a House here. now si teh Best time. Our prices are rather low and I can imagine them going up again the closer we get to 2010.

I can tell you that a full House GTI is about R290 000
And a full house R32 will set you back about R450 000

Though at the moment the R32 waiting list has gone over a year so you can order it now and move in when it arrives

lol - you get seriously ripped off out there on car prices!!!! Especially as some VWs are even built in SA. Think I would rather buy one here and somehow get it out there! But maybe import duties etc would not offset that high price in Rand from a dealer in SA. But yeah you are right about the house prices coming up to 2010. Though I guess they are high enough already for a house on the dunes of Long Beach  I can dream.

Long Beach as in the Fish Hoek side of Cape Town? I live on that side.
Long beach is stunning but to far away from the mall

Cheers (Being kicked off the computer by my smaller brother :embarassed:)

Yep thats the one - In Kommetjie, Long Beach then runs into Neurdoek beach. I know Fish Heok well, love to swim there - been there when the sea water was 24C :). Beautiful country.

Tell me, have they released the CITI GOLF .:R yet? For those of you who did not know, SA have a budget golf known as the CITI Golf, based on our old MK1 Golf with some updated bits. Limitied edition CITI .:R is due out there.

About a year ago they facelifted the Citi Golf and made a almost special version called the Velociti.
Facelift includes new rims, dash, bodykit and spoiler.

I was at our local dealer last week colecting a part for my moms car and saw the advert for the Citi Golf R but was to busy asking about the R32 to take any real notice of it. As far as I know it has not come out yet. But I have a feeling that when it does its going to be a huge success. The Citi Golfs are everywhere. and bar the interior they look almost identical to the MK1 Golf.

Fish Hoek is great. Will admit. I wont go near the ocean. To many dam shark attacks :undecided: ....
Its Noordhoek Beach lol. Is there any place near Kommetjie that you are interested in as such? There is a new complex sprouting up on Blackhill and new complexes everywhere. Fish Hoek itself has not changed. Some of the buildings on the main road have been rebuilt and basically everything is becoming better.

I was in the city centre yesterday and was amazed to see that there were traffic cops moderating the traffic etc and also that areas like observatory and woodstock seem to have neatened up a bit. Oh yes! They finally retarred Kommetjie main road! lol

South Africa is changing. I would seriously consider coming down here. What job market are you in?
