Random is the word... At school (currently a year away from matric )
I do art as a subject and have become very experimental with photoshop....
Thought you might find this interesting. Nasty comments are very much accepted  and nice ones too please....
A thank you must go out to those who posted pics of their cars. I hope you dont mind that they are now being admired by 800 students since they have been stuck all over the art classroom wall......   (Received only positive comments though)
I may post more mainly cos Im looking for ideas.... If you want your car made abstract or edited just shout. :lipsrsealed:
This is the original:

And this is the very messed up first try at editing it....  The point of the Art project is to capture a journey.

Let me know what you think please. What you like dont like etc. Its due on the 22 May. I want to capture the journey but also make it very much involved with the actual car. i.e the the black GTI on the left and interior of the car......... If you have any great pics you can post that you think would look good please post them (I have a database of almost 1050 GTI, R32 pics).
Thanks all
Michael

What's that horrible looking gearstick? Is that automatic.....

Although I find what you have done clever, do you need two different images of Sydney opera house, it's such an iconic building, one would let the viewer know immediately, where they were, and on a personal level I find the rocks down the right-hand side of the work a bit intrusive and it keep drawing my eye to that side.
-
Point taken Creepy. I also found the rocks seemed to have a pull affect.
The Sydney Opera House on the windscreen was a last minute add on. I like it more than the one at the drivers feet. I still need to think of a new idea for that pic....

Oh yes..... Forgot to mention. The SATNAV in the middle will not have that picture when I'm done. It will have a VW badge or GTI Badge.....
-
Deffo keep the windscreen shot IMHO. how about a flag of the nation/Country or a nice long shot of one of your fantastic straight road, or a roadtrain front end coming towards you from the wheel well.
-
Was it deliberate to have the steering wheel off centre. The flat bottomed wheel is part of the GTI, but gets lost with being at an angle and behind those rocks

Good point  them there rocks need to go
-
Okiedokie.
Consider the rocks gone....
Unfortunatly this was the only proper pic I could find with the cream interior (Which is easier to edit compared to the black interior of my mothers car). A downside was that yes the steering wheel is turned...
If anyone has the cream interior with the steering wheel straight please PM me at 08micsta@wbhs.org.za
The flag? I tried that but maybe went a bit overboard with the flag. Will play around with the flag idea again tonight.
Its weird, my art teacher like the rocks a lot??? :undecided:

Using Photoshop for Art at school, when I were a lad we weren't even allowed to type our coursework on the computer and that was the dizzying heights of a 286 running word perfect
-
Beige interior?
-
:embarassed:
My art teacher is really weird one........ I must admit.....
Originally the project was that we had to photograph a journey and then draw it on A1 paper. However being the pc techie in the class I was allowed to use photoshop. I am the first person at my school to experiment with photoshop. :smug: At our school everything is expected to be typed out and printed.
I however have bad news.... Last night my pc was stormed with a few Trojan Horses and the like. before Norton was able to delete etc they got into my system folders and screwed everything up......
So after formatting and reinstalling Windows XP I have nothing on my pc and lost most of my pictures. So will have to start again.....
I hope to post the pics on Monday. Thanks so far for the comments.
Michael (Sorry to keep everyone waiting)

Hey again.
Alright only 3 days late. (I'm a teenager thats allowed right??)
Sorry for the hold up. Finally got the pc up and running and have re-edited the pics again. So I changed a few things. Still working on some smaller things but this is what it looks like now.

My art teacher finally agreed to the erocks going but feels that the Opera Hosue in the windshield is all that I must still do... But I'm thinking of like the other image putting the front of a gti cut in half on the left hand side and the rear half of a gti on the right side? Maybe a bit overboard? Not sure. Will try it and post later.
Let me know what you think. I find that I preferred the whole claustrophobic effectt he other image had....

Love the footwells, not too sure about the spare wheel on the back seat, looks a bit like you've just bought from ebay.
-
I should have cleaned them before taking that picture
What do you suggest?
-
If I was to be critical, I think that maybe you are trying to put too much into the picture. One area would be to have the same image seen through all the windows (front and side) to give the picture more reality so to speak. I agree that the alloy wheel looks a little out of place, an almost like you've had a puncture with no room to put it back in the boot?
Maybe replace the steering wheel with an alloy wheel?? You could perhaps give the feeling of speed by adding some motion blur to some of the images (Time warp style) maybe at the edges??
Difficult subject I thinks, but you're doing a good job!
-
Hey
Thanks for the comments. I like the idea of the wheel rather on the steering wheel and it will also get rid of the steering wheel being turned....
Will play tonight. Probably post on monday. I also figured maybe putting to much in is a bad idea. So for now will play with the wheel and leave it at that. Thanks though.

What happened to the Monza II steering wheel?
-
Unfortunatly she didnt like the wheel idea....... So it had to go. She said it caused to much distraction ???!!!
I sometimes do wonder where these art teachers come from...............
As I said. I honestly dont like this final image. But when it comes to final exams etc. its what the teacher wants that counts. So if she likes it then too bad for me.
Oh well. Thanks again to evryone that commented. I'm sorry most of the ideas were not used (due to my whack art teacher). Perhaps I will do one again just for you guys.... :smug:
Thanks

Thats Crazy !!! im on speed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
now that really is great! who's the web address??
-
Not sure. I copied the picture off VWVortex a while ago. The original had the web address on the bottom and I still need to photoshop it out.
Looking at the picture I am left to assume that Arin owns this golf and has a website with his pics on it. Will try the website. I only remembered after I had saved about 3 layers that the writing was still there....
Here is the original:Unfortunatly I am at school so this one is after I had already put the spiky thing on the bodywork....

Most of the cars etc that I edit I get off this forum. And of course VWVortex too.
Now I would rather hand this in for my art Prac
Mike (Thanks for the positive comments)
