bit of a update,i ve been putting this off as i am going to be doing a lot of work on the car so was going to do it all together so.

Yest i set off from work and in the car park when i was turning i could here a knocking so had a check of the power steering fluid the PS container was empty so risked it and had to get home drove home no problem couldn't see any puddle under the car so i had to go the VW to get some Power steering fluid today £7.99Inc VAT which i didn't think was to bad also got round to ordering them seals 50p each again not bad.

Put it in at dinner but i was P***ing it down lucky for me we didn't have any thing in the works "nice and dry" i am still have a knocking from the steering when i turn when slow any ideas?


Also when i topped it up i got some one to turn the car full lock left right about 10 times to to bleed it that's right yer?

the knocking could be a few things track rods ends, wishbones/bushes, subframe bushes, ball joints, arb bushes and drop links

well my drop links need replacing so may be them

You could have knackered the power steering pump 

Generally having to re-fill your power steering fluid means one thing - your steering rack is fooked

. . . . Couldn't you have siad there ment to make that noise and that its perfectly normal as i am sint atm lol

How do i check there the Racks Foooked ? and were is the best place to get one and how much are they

ive got a spare you can have for £20 if you come pick it up as ive just upgraded to the TT set up!

Thanks i may take you up on that going to find out if its shot first before matei as its a bit of a trek but good prices none the less  whats the difference in the TT set up ?

sharper resonse ?? you will feel in the wheel if its fooked and the revs will rise a lot as its struggling to move the wheels.. iirc..
