Title: My Mk4 golf indigo blue - (De-badge (page 6))
Post by: shorty0100397 on 04 February 2010, 10:06
Hi everyone, I sold my fiesta that was on finance to clear the remaining payments and bought a golf with my savings.  I'd been searching for a decent one for a while within budget, saw some dude but i cam accross this one.  It was going for £3700 and I got it for £3000.  He gave me a full vallet (Alot dirtier now), and two new tyres too.  Currently its in the garage having a full timing belt kit fitted along with a new water pump and a full service.  Hear are some pics I took this morning.  Apologies for the poor images, it was to cold to care too much.

Thoughts and opinions or suggestions would be apriciated.  Thanks  (Oh, does anyone know what that plastic thing is on the window?)

Looks smart that mate. A few subtle touches you should think about:

Mk5 rear aero wiper
sharan badge
smoked GTI  lights

Thanks,  would that rear wiper from a mk5 fit the mk4?

Cheaper from the dealers.

Those lights are ok, but I suggest VW Euro Spec or US Spec ones!

Cue Rhyso to add a pic of his.

at I guess I'd say its an aerial for either a GPS system or telephone system
Title: Re: New Golf Mk4 PICS.
Post by: shorty0100397 on 04 February 2010, 13:31
It doesnt have GPS or a phone system.  I think its going to come off.  I thought it might be for the alarm because opening the boot sets it off and i cant find any other trigger.  Hmm, not sure.  The ariel has to go though, its huuuuggggeeee

Glad you said that!

Sharan aerial or a honda S2000 will fit, and be the short stubby type. There are cheaper ones about on ebay, but some people report getting bad reception form them.

I cant wait to get it back from the garage.  I'm itching to nip out and get some cleaning products, go for a spin and take some neat pics to play with.  I wish this weather would clear up too, some nice sunny pics would be much better

If you can get yourself up to Cliftongrade there is a mk4 in there that you could get the holders off

I'll be up there Friday, if you can't get there let me know and I'll grab them for you

Im lucky, the ones in my ebay link can be switched over without an issue.  Im hoping they will look nice on an indigo blue.  Had to get smoked ones otherwise standard ones would stand out too much imo.

De-badged my car, the glue is awful.  You can easily see where it was and can make out the letters.  It was too dark to do anymore.  Anyone have any tips of how to get the tacky yakky grey stuff off without spending money?

On page one, on my photos you can see on the rear, some kind of plastic receiver.  I tried to use a hair dryer to get it off but the glass seemed to flex and pinged.  I can see what looks to be either a small scratch or cracked glass , any ideas?

Wazzer, that pic looks amazing.

I used nail varnish remover to get rid of the glue left behind. Make sure it is Acetone free and use sparingly as too much while harm the paint work. Just put a little bit on some cotton wool and rub gently then wipe with a clean damp cloth.

Hi, you can buy the super resin polish from halfords, ebay and other online shops.  Also i'll have some pics on today hopefully.  Im doing a big clean, polish and wax if the wax arrives.
