Battery type advice needed
« on: 16 September 2023, 12:36 »
I've got a Y reg Golf GTI, 2001. Just wondering if most batteries will be ok? I want to buy one from Halfords and put it in myself but they won't allow you to return it if its been unsealed and tried in the car. Is there a very narrow option of batteries that would be suitable out there for a relatively old car? Any advice gratefully received!

I bought my last two batterys from https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/ and fitted them myself. I went with the  varta brand as that's who made the  factory fit ones for the two I replaced. They arrived quickly without issue and were cheaper than Halfords when I got mine.
I have also used https://www.bmstechnologies.co.uk/product-category/car-batteries/ for one of my other cars.

I used Vartas own website to find out the type and size and part numbers.
